At Home Remedies for Kyphosis
After the birth of my third daughter, I began to notice the back of my neck had a hump. I assumed it was back fat and hoped it would go away once I started to lose the baby weight. A few months later I lost some of the baby weight yet my hump seemed to get bigger. I was looking like Quasimodo. And the neck pain was getting worse. I was talking a friend at Mommy & Me class and she was experiencing the same issue. That’s when I realized all those months of being hunched over breastfeeding was the cause of my hump aka Kyphosis.
In this post, I want to show you a few products that I found on Amazon that has relieved a lot of neck pain. As well as a few exercises that you can do at home, office or anywhere else.
Hugaroo Neck Wrap: This Hugaroo Neck wrap works hot or cold. For the first couple of days start by wearing the neck wrap cold. Then you can start wearing it warm, just microwave it for 2 minutes. It soothes the neck and shoulder from aches and tension. It feels heavenly and smells great. I love to wear it at night before bed while I’m planning for the next day. My girls love to wear it too, after cheer practice.
Sports Medicine Foam Roller or a rolled up towel: Lay the foam roller or a rolled up towel long ways on your bed vertically and lay down so that the roller and your spine are parallel. This will help open up your chest. At first I could only stand it for a minute or so. I slowly began to increased more time. I try to do this every night for at least 10-15 minutes.
Massage Ball: This massage ball is great because you can also use it hot or cold. Place the ball on your chest, lean up against the wall, and roll the ball side to side. This increases circulation and mobility to open up your chest and improve your posture. This is also great for those who suffer from hip joint aches. Just place the massage ball on your yoga mat, lay down on your side and roll the ball up and down your hip.
Posture Corrector Back Brace Support: It’s comfortable, but a little bulky under clothing. I’ve been wearing it under my favorite Adidas pull over sweater and you can’t even tell and my posture looks great.
Posture Corrector Bra: Super comfortable bra. I often wear it as a sport bra because it supports the girls as well. I’m a 36DD so it is hard to find a bra that gives support. They have different colors and patterns that are cute.
